Three nutrition-based articles (Irish Independent, Her.ie, Rosanna Davison Nutrition) for students to dissect in relation to information literacy and health literacy.
Students/groups read the article and outline their initial thoughts as to the accuracy/legitimacy/reliability of the information. Then, using the questions or flowchart as a prompt/guide, students evaluate the article. Students then detail their final thoughts and how they may differ to their initial thoughts.
Follow up activities can include sourcing different articles for their peers to evaluate, a presentation on choosing sources (e.g. Instagram) and how to decipher the accuracy of the content, and writing their own articles.
